Top 10 Health Tips to Start Before Your Wedding

Before the big day of your wedding, it’s always important to look after yourself. It might be the last thing on your mind with the planning. You might be trying to lose a little weight or improve your skin for that honeymoon you have planned. A healthy life-style can take time to see results, whether it is for weight loss or flawless skin. These tips can help you relax, feel great and look after your wellbeing.

Tip 1- Microdermabrasion Facial Scrubs
Exfoliating with a scrub or a rough towel can result in scratching the healthy layers of skin. Microdermabrasion Facial Scrubs are different and can help refresh skin and help repair the skin of a bad skin routine. The idea of Microdermabrasion is to gently remove the dead surface layer of the skin .It’s painless and has your skin looking healthier, smoother and flawless. There are now home-kits available, but please do read the instructions and don’t apply the microdermabrasion for longer than recommended. Overdoing it can lead to dryness, irritation and sensitivity of the skin.

Tip 2 - Drink More Water
Drinking large amounts of water can have your metabolising running faster. Water is the most effective, cheapest and easiest way for losing weight. Water can also help your skin looking flawless. I drank 1.5 litres a day and after 2 months I noticed such a difference and a glow to my skin. I even felt more energetic! It can be difficult drinking water for some. By adding fruits or cucumber can help with the taste if you find plain water boring. A tip to get a glass down quick is to use a smoothie straw, these can be bought from IKEA or other retailers I’m sure.

Tip 3 - Join a Gym or Buy a Work-out DVD
Finding your local gym will not only help working out but pretty soon, it will be your go-to place to get away from everything. Make an upbeat playlist, get those trainers on and run until you can’t run anymore! A gym isn’t everyone’s preferred way of training; Zumba and a celeb work out DVDs is also a great work out. 3 times a week is sufficient to help shift those pounds. Running is also a great way to freshen up your mind after a day of wedding stress!

Tip 4 - Slimming World
Finding a local Slimming World can do some wonders. Many people have lost of a lot of weight with the help of slimming world. The great benefit of Slimming World is that you get to enjoy what you like but just having healthy versions of your favourite meals, these meals are suitable for the whole family. Having group support is a lot easier too and having someone monitor your weight with you puts the pressure on to lose weight week on week. If you like me and you need actual food to survive and some days a lot of it, this diet is ideal for you.

Tip 5 - Meditation
When planning a wedding, from time-to-time you will need de-stress and think about absolutely nothing wedding-related. Easy to say, difficult to do! Sometimes you need some time just to clear your head. Meditating can help with soothing music (YouTube is great for this) for around 15 minutes. And get into it! Sit cross-legged on the floor with a straight back. You may feel it is a little weird at first but you will feel so much better after. Meditation is great way to start your day or even after finishing your exercises. Sometimes its hard to switch off as we have such busy lives, when I first started meditating I found it difficult to focus my mind. My mind would wander off countless times it took me a couple of months to be able to focus and calm my mind using meditation.

Tip 6 - More fruit and veg
I know it’s cliche but 5 fruit and veg a day is really important. I always try to have half of my plate covered in salad or veg when having lunch or dinner. Doing this can be marked off as 2 of your 5 already! However, it is important to look at how much fruit/ veg counts towards your 5-a-day. For example, the salad in your sandwich wouldn’t count as one portion as there isn’t enough. Also, potato doesn’t count either, as this is the same category as bread or pasta. A great way of eating more fruit is by adding fruit to a healthy yogurt or even to your cereal in the morning.

Tip 7- Try not to crash diet
Crash dieting can make you less energetic and feeling irritable. Something you don’t need while planning a wedding. Juicing diets can contain tons of unwanted sugar, which isn’t great for your diet. Crash dieting is a temporary effect and can harm your body by losing weight in such a dramatic way and short amount of time. Also cutting out certain food groups isn’t healthy as you should have a balanced diet in place.

Tip 8 - Glass of wine?
I know a glass of wine is the easiest way to wind down, but alcohol can be empty calories and will make you hungrier. Cutting out alcohol is a good way to keep those pounds off. If cutting out alcohol isn’t easy, try to swap for a healthier option. For example, Mojito is better than a Pina Colada, saving 326 calories. Have less of an intake of alcohol, so a single shot rather than a double. Also, try not to drink on an empty stomach as this can lead to snacking on unhealthy salty foods such as crisps or peanuts.

Tip 9 - Healthy alternatives
70% of losing weight is based on diet. There is no point going to the gym and having a pizza on a Friday night. I can understand it can be difficult to be healthy, but instead of thinking of it as a chore, think of it as an exciting way of trying new dishes. Instead of chips, you can make sweet potato fries. Look up online for healthy curry dishes to cook and use brown rice instead of white. Try to avoid red meat and add more chicken and turkey into your diet. Boil then oven your chips with a little bit of Fry Light Oil, you won’t be needing that deep fat fryer.
Little changes like this can go a long way to see a difference.

Tip 10 - Green Tea
Try swapping one of your coffee/ teas for a green tea. I know the taste is not the best! My favourite is the cranberry flavoured green tea and I like to add a little honey or lemon. Avoid adding sugar as sugar is your worst enemy when trying to lose a few pounds. The benefit of green tea is the antioxidants which helps burn more calories due to speeding up the metabolism. Green tea can also help reduce cholesterol. I lost weight by drinking green tea a year before my wedding, I didn’t exercise or change the way I eat so I believe green tea definitely helps you to lose weight.

All the best.
